Listen to the Cruddy Show live on Friday night's or download it on iTunes by searching "Cruddy Show." The Cruddy Show was back at it, this time on a Thursday night.  Host Corey Rudd led his panel of distinguished, but yet very ordinary guests in yet another discussion of St. Louis sports.  Anthony Wiber, Brad Bumpus, and Mike "Big Red" Levin joined as guests and discussed the Blues goalie situation next season, Sam Bradford's new weapons, and the British Open. While the discussion was riveting in all three of the above areas, the panel's assessment of the Trevor Rosenthal promotion was particularly of interest. All of the panelists agreed that Rosenthal's promotion feels like a desperate move by St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak. To hear what the panel had to say about Rosenthal and the rest of the "Six Pack of St. Louis Sports," listen to the replay of the show below. Listen to internet radio with Cruddy Show o...

Berkman says bat speed is lacking

MILWAUKEE Lance Berkman figured skipping a rehab assignment might cause him to not see the ball well or feel uncomfortable in the box his first few games back. He didnt expect to not have any bat speed. The Cardinals wanted the veteran to play a few minor league games after missing nearly two months due to knee surgery, but Berkman declined and said he felt good enough to work...

Cardinals having run-scoring problems

The second half has not begun the way the St. Louis Cardinals would have envisioned. The club lost five of six road contests to National League Central Division rivals Cincinnati and Milwaukee. During that stretch, the games were close. The Cardinals received good pitching, but the offense often misfired when it mattered most. They had plenty of scoring chances, though. The problem...

Cardinals' losses contain familiar tendencies

After ending the pre-All Star break of their schedule with a rush to close six games over .500, the Cardinals have jammed it in reverse. They finished a disastrous 1-5 trip to division rivals Cincinnati and Milwaukee, with every loss seeming much the same. They are only two over .500 with 70 games to play. Wednesday, they left the bases loaded in the ninth when first baseman Lance...

Kelly taking advantage of opportunity

Rookie pitcher Joe Kelly has been a pleasant surprise this year, subbing for the injured Jaime Garcia and giving the Cardinals a chance to win each of his seven starts to date. But there was a point last season when his current success didnt look possible. Kelly started 2011 at High-A Palm Beach, where he went 5-2 with a 2.60 ERA in 12 starts before earning a promotion to Double...

Matt Garza has looked like an All-Star at home but is quite vulnerable on the road. His outings at Busch Stadium have been no exception to that rule. Matt Holliday and the Cardinals, who are heating up in St. Louis, look to add to Garza's road woes Saturday night in what could be one of his last starts with the Chicago Cubs. After coming out of the All-Star break with a 1...
