Eli's MLB Rumors:
The Cubs have trade pitching prospect Jose Ceda to the Marlins for closer Kevin Gregg. This is a very interesting move from the Cubs, who have regarded Ceda as a top pitching prospect for several seasons. As for Gregg, he had a pretty solid season for the Marlins despite leading the league in blown saves. Ceda will likely see time in the MLB next season for the Marlins while Gregg will be used in late inning relief. The Cubs will still attempt to sign Kerry Wood, and it is possible they will turn Gregg and cash into the Jake Peavy deal with the Padres. The Padres are looking for a solid pitcher and could use Gregg in late inning relief as well. While he isn't a deal breaker, he would certainly help get a deal done. This story was approved by MLB Rumors.
