Yankees' Michael Pineda, David Phelps suffer setbacks

The New York Yankees were hoping to get two of their top young pitchers off the disabled list in the near future, but it appears that the recoveries of Michael Pineda and David Phelps will be pushed back further. Both pitchers suffered setbacks during their rehab this weekend, as Pineda experienced stiffness in his shoulder while Phelps dealt with elbow soreness. Phelps'...

Suzyn Waldman Claims to See ‘Lot of People Standing and Cheering’ for Alex Rodriguez’s First At-Bat (Audio)

It is certainly no secret that Yankees radio broadcaster Suzyn Waldman sees things through a Yankees-colored light to the point that she probably wears pinstriped pajamas. But she found a new way to prove that sometimes, at least, she just doesn’t see all of reality. Waldman and longtime radio partner John Sterling were on hand Monday night in Chicago where Yankees third baseman...

Yankees place Jeter on DL

The New York Yankees put shortstop Derek Jeter back on the disabled list Monday in the latest setback in an injury-filled season for the captain. Jeter is out with a strained right calf. The return to the DL came on the same day teammate Alex Rodriguez was suspended through the 2014 season in a drug case. With Jeter going on the DL, the Yankees recalled infielder Dave Adams from...

Derek Jeter goes on DL to make room for Alex Rodriguez

Maybe the Yankees were thinking of waiting a couple of more days to see how Derek Jeter‘s injured calf would respond but that would have required cutting an infielder to make room for the returning Alex Rodriguez on Monday. Instead they chose the prudent course and placed Jeter on the disabled list for the third time this season. Jeter who suffered a fractured ankle in the postseason...

Blame Ambiguity for the Alex Rodriguez Suspension Circus

There he was in front of a microphone just prior to the Yankees game against the White Sox. Alex Rodriguez, who the league had just hours earlier said they would suspend him on Thursday for the remainder of the 2013 season and all of 2014, was talking of how he would use the grievance process afforded him by the league and MLBPA’s drug agreement, yet never answered whether he ever...

Ozzie Guillen Blames Madonna for A-Rod’s Suspension

When news broke thatMajor League Baseball had suspended Alex Rodriguez through 2014, opinions ranged far and wide on the punishment for the slugger and whether or not it was fair. MLB Suspends Alex Rodriguez Through 2014 Season

Nova brilliant again as Granderson's two-run blast lifts Yankees over Padres

Curtis Granderson delivered a timely two-run homer in the seventh inning Saturday night snapping a scoreless tie and lifting Ivan Nova and the Yankees to a 3-0 victory over the Padres at Petco Park. Granderson’s home run was only the fourth for the Yankees in 13 games since the All-Star break with all four coming from players who didn’t...

Possibly battling rapidly progressive dementia, Suzyn Waldman saw/heard 'a lot' of people cheering for Arod

WFAN cut to every Alex Rodriguez at bat last night. Besides the overkill, you had the demented one, Suzyn Waldman, hearing and seeing things. Sure, cheers for Arod but -- wow, Friday's going to be like Kim Jong-un has returned home. **Follow us on Twitter, View via Our Mobile Site, or Return to BobsBlitz.com.Follow us on Twitter. The Complicity of Bud Selig

Photo source However you feel about the Alex Rodriguez debacle, you have to agree that it makes for excellent baseball television. Personally, I’m quite enjoying the circus – schadenfreude has always been one of my strong suits. When A*Rod takes the field in Chicago, he’ll doubtless face a loud chorus of boos and jeers. After talking to a few Yankees fans, I don’t think...
