The Chicago Cubs dealt starting pitcher Scott Feldman to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday and traded former All-Star Carlos Marmol to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for veteran reliever Matt Guerrier.
The Cubs got right-handed pitchers Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop as well as two international signing bonus slots from the Orioles in exchange for Feldman and catcher Steve Clevenger.
Feldman signed a one-year contract with the Cubs and went 7-6 with a 3.46 ERA in 15 starts this season. He is 46-50 with a 4.66 ERA in 219 major league games over nine seasons.
Arrieta is 20-25 with a 5.46 ERA over the last four seasons with Baltimore (2010-13). Strop was 5-2 with three saves, 24 holds and a 2.44 ERA last season as the primary setup man for the Orioles. He has battled a back strain this year, going 0-3 with a 7.25 ERA. Arrieta will be assigned to Triple-A Iowa while Strop is expected to report to the Cubs later this week.
