Chicago Cubs center fielder David DeJesus crashed hard into the outfield fence and left Friday night's game against the New York Mets. DeJesus appeared to hurt his right shoulder after Juan Lagares' third-inning triple ticked off the end of his glove. DeJesus was running almost full speed when he extended his right arm, which slammed into the padded wall in right-center at Citi Field. His glove was knocked off his hand, and DeJesus immediately went down, writhing in pain on the warning track as he reached for his right shoulder. After Lagares pulled into third, every Cubs fielder went out to the warning track to aid DeJesus along with manager Dale Sveum, a trainer and a worker in an EMS top. But in an encouraging sign, DeJesus got up and walked off the field under his own power, his right arm hanging limp along his side. The Cubs said he was having X-rays on his right shoulder. Ryan Sweeney took over in center field for DeJesus, who earlier hit a bases-loaded triple that banged off the wall in nearly the same spot he did. DeJesus, who grew up nearby in New Jersey and went to Rutgers, had family in the stands, a Cubs spokesman said. He began the night batting .258 with six homers and 18 RBIs.
