Cubs Down on the Farm Report - 05/28/09

Here is your mid-week update for our Young Cubs. This was one heck of a busy beginning to the week for call-ups; of course the big one was Jake Fox getting called up to Chicago from Iowa. Bobby Scales was sent back down to Iowa on Wednesday but appears to be headed back to Chicago with Ryan Freel going on the DL. Josh Vitters was named Midwest League Player of the Week on Tuesday. Vitters hit .476 with seven home runs, 11 runs scored and 14 RBI over a ten game stretch. Andrew Cashner had a great start for Daytona (yes they finally got to play a game); he went 5 innings and gave up only one earned run and did not walk a batter.
