The led 4-0 going to the 9th. 19 pitches later it was 4-4. Berkman went deep. Carlos Lee followed that up with another one. That was 3 of the pitches. The Cubs came right back and got a run in the bottom half of the 9th. Scales walked to leadoff the inning and then Miles laid down a sac bunt. Soriano got behind 0-2 and on a pitch outside he laid it into RF for a game-winning single.
Randy Wells threw the ball very well today. 6 innings, 4 hits, 3 walks, 4 strikeouts, no runs. In 15 big league innings he hasn’t yet allowed a run. Today’s graph from fangraph tells the whole story for today. Click on the image to take you to today’s box score.
