The New York Yankees submitted the winning bid for the rights to negotiate with Japanese infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima, though they don’t appear to have much interest in signing him. Enter the Chicago Cubs. The 29 year old Nakajima has spent most of his career at shortstop but he could represent a significant upgrade at second base for the Cubs. Nakajima had a career .880 OPS for the Seibu Lions through the 2010 season. His career .389 on base percentage would be a huge upgrade over Cubs incumbent second baseman Darwin Barney’s .313 mark from last season. The Yankees and Nakajima have 30 days to work out a contract, or a sign and trade. If no agreement is reached Nakajima will return to the Seibu Lions for his sixth season.

The greatest Derek Jeter story ever

Derek Jeter is a lot of things, one of the best shortstops of all time, a sure fire Hall of Famer, and a World Champion among many other things. One thing he isn’t though is interesting. Jeter gives some of the most boring, cliche filled interviews in all of sports. Don’t get me wrong, it’s part of what makes him great especially when across the lockeroom is a...

Cano working hard to move up in the order

Without a doubt the best number five hitter in the league, Robinson Cano is working very hard this off-season to bat third in the Yankees lineup this season. Rumor: Yankees considering a sign-and-trade with Nakajima

The Yankees won the negotiating rights to Japanese infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima last week, but there has been a question of whether he will make enough money or get consistent enough playing time with the Yankees. So his agent has brought up the idea of a sign-and-trade so he doesn’t have to go back to Japan, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Nakajimi isn’t necessarily...

Sources: Nakajima explores alternatives

If Japanese infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima does not want to play for the New York Yankees, there still might be a way for him to join a major-league team next season. The Yankees could work a sign-and-trade involving Nakajima -- an idea that the player's U.S. agent, Greg Genske, has broached with the club, major-league sources say. The Yankees won exclusive negotiating rights...

Rumor: Blue Jays outbid Yankees for Yu Darvish

Hello. This isn’t a big loss for the Yankees. Remember Daisuke Matsuzaka? He was supposed to be the savior of the Red Sox pitching staff and now look at him. He did have one good year but overall, his career has not been good in the major leagues. He was supposed to have 20 different pitches that no one could hit or some thing. Darvish is supposed to be a better pitcher if...
