The Cubs were shut down by Chris Volstad for 6 innings and change before Jake Fox launched one of the longest HRs I’ve ever seen to tie the game at 2-2 in the 7th. Volstad even helped himself with a long RBI double to dead center that would have been a HR in many parks. Harden struck out a ridiculous 11 batters over 5 innings today, but didn’t have great control. He probably could have gone another inning if Fontenot hadn’t blown a caught stealing in the first that led to a couple extra batters. Marmol came in for the 8th and while he flashed the stuff he’s had in his past few outings, he did not have the control. He walked two batters, hit another one, and gave up a RBI single for what proved to be the game-winning run. Marshall came in and two more of those baserunners scored. Marmol was pretty awful today, but so was the offense. This was a team loss. I guess this can be a mini-game thread for the Astros-Cards too. D-R-s- just tied the game at 2-2 with a solo HR in the bottom of the 7th.
