If you have read this page for any length of time whatsoever, I’m sure you won’t be surprised at my reaction to this desecration.

I love it!!

No, I do not. I despise it. I loathe it. If it were a woman, I’d date it. That’s how much I hate it.

Of course, it should come as no surprise that according to cubs.com:

Representatives from the Cubs, the game's title sponsor, Allstate, Northwestern University and Valspar all came together on Monday to apply the first strokes of paint in a show of support for the contest.

Natch. Sharp eyed readers may remember that I called this on April 7th, 2010. I told you that area was eventually to be used to generate revenue.

And another thing…isn’t Wrigley Field a National Historic Landmark? Can you just go changing stuff at the whim of a sponsor?

If Boston College were to play a game at Fenway Park, would they paint the Green Monster a cheery burgundy and gold? Of course not. The owners of the Red Sox realize they are merely the caretakers of Fenway, responsible for preserving its history and passing it along to future generations.

The Ricketts family doesn’t seem to hold the same belief about Wrigley Field.

In fact, today Tom Ricketts almost threatened Cubs fans by saying there “is no Plan B” if the state rejects his demand for a mere $200M bond offering. What happens if you don’t get the dough, Tom? Bye-bye, Wrigley?

I have written it many times before, but Tom Ricketts has no business owning the Chicago Cubs. He didn’t know what he was getting himself into and we the fans are suffering.

The Ricketts family can’t afford Wrigley Field and cheesy examples like this are proof positive.

Is Mark Cuban still interested?
