Found March 30, 2009 on Another Cubs Blog:
Mark Pawelek was released today by the organization. The Cubs drafted him in the 1st round in 2005 out of some high school in Utah. Never a good move, in my opinion, to draft somebody from a school where there is little or no talent. Why not select some dude from Anchorage High? Anyway, a week ago the Cubs released 2003 1st round pick Ryan Harvey. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see 2006 1st round pick Tyler Colvin dropped at the end of this season. In other news, the Cubs trimmed their roster down to 30 yesterday by reassigning or optioning to the minor leagues the following players: Kevin Hart, So Taguchi, Andres Blanco, Esteban German, Mark Johnson and Brad Snyder. It appears the positions players are set with the exception of choosing between Bako and Hill as the back-up catcher. Soto Bako/Hill Lee Hoffpauir Fontenot Miles Theriot Ramirez Soriano Fukudome Johnson Bradley Gathright The pitching staff appears set with the exception of one spot in the bullpen. Zambrano Harden Dempster Lilly Marshall Gregg Marmol Heilman Gaudin Vizcaino Cotts One of Guzman, Patton and Samarzija
