MLB Injury News:
New York Yankees' outfielder Curtis Granderson, who has been out since May 24 with a broken left pinkie knuckle, will be active for the Yankees' game against the San Diego Padres on Friday.
As reported by Jed Weisberger of MLB.com,
""I'm excited," Granderson said. "I'm anxious to help our team get
back to the postseason. With [Derek] Jeter back, and with [Alfonso]
Soriano now in the lineup, [Robinson] Cano will be getting more help.
"It's the day I've been waiting for.""
"Granderson has had a star-crossed 2013 season. He suffered a
fractured right wrist when hit by Toronto's J.A. Happ in the first
Spring Training game, which sidelined him until May 14. He has appeared
in just eight 2013 games with the Yankees after hitting 84 home runs and
driving in 225 runs in 2011-12."
Granderson recently finished a five game rehab assignment, where he had 4 hits in 15 at bats. He was under the weather during his last rehab game on Wednesday, when he relegated to designated hitter duty.
He passed several tests on Wednesday, including diving back into first base in the third inning and avoiding a collision as home plate in the seventh.
Granderson, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has 7 hits in 28 at bats with a home run this season. Last year, he batted .232 with 43 home runs and 106 runs batted in. For his career, Granderson is a .262 hitter with 211 home runs and 592 runs batted in.

When Yankees GM Brian Cashman admitted yesterday that the Yankees are contending for one of the Wild Cards this year, he made me look very good. Before the season began I predicted they would the win second Wild Card. Then, on July 10th, I again went on record as saying they were Wild Card contenders. So, where's my prize?Just kidding. Cashman's admission is very rare....

The Yankees will honor retiring closer Mariano Rivera with a ceremony on Sept. 22 before New York plays the San Francisco Giants.
Rivera announced in spring training this will be his last season. The 43-year-old has spent 19 seasons with the Yankees, made 13 All-Star games and is baseball's career saves leader with 641.
He was selected MVP of the most recent All-Star game at...
If this isn’t protecting “the integrity of, or the maintenance of public confidence in, the game of baseball,” not much would be.
MLB commissioner Bud Selig is moving to use a remote clause in the MLB collective bargaining agreement that includes that phrasing to try to keep Alex Rodriguez from returning to baseball, the New York Daily News reports.
Rodriguez, who is working...
The Yankees were visiting Los Angeles for an interleague series with the Dodgers which gave us a rare chance to hear Vin Scully call a Yankees game. Last night, the Yankees were up 3-0 in the 9th which meant a chance to hear the greatest announcer in the game call the game's greatest ever closer on his grand retirement tour. Thankfully, MLB has made the entire bottom of the...
Alex Rodriguez says he's fighting for his life.
The embattled New York Yankees' slugger did not deny using performance enhancing drugs on Monday in a news conference after Major League Baseball suspended him through the 2014 season. He said he will talk about whether he used PEDs at another time when he is more free to speak.
He did, however, dig in for a battle, saying...
Brian Cashman failed to bring in a bat at the trade deadline yesterday, but it wasn’t due to lack of effort. Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. just wasn’t having any of it, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
According to Heyman, Cashman and Amaro spoke on the phone around 3 pm yesterday – an hour before the deadline. Cashman offered to send a prospect AND pay the remaining $5...
Major League Baseball has been playing hardball with Alex Rodriguez since they began investigating his alleged involvement with Biogenesis, and it is slowly starting to look like the league will get its way. Rodriguez’s lawyers have been adamant throughout the entire process that A-Rod will appeal any suspension he is given, but could they be [...]
The issues in the Biogenesis case are two-fold: 1) the accused players supposedly used PEDs, which is against the rules of MLB’s drug policy, and 2) they used illegal drugs, thereby breaking the real law.
It is there that gives Commissioner Bud Selig authority to go after these guys and dole out punishments, some exceeding the 50-game ban for a first offense.
RODRIGUEZ: Not doing...
Alex Rodriguez once had the smoothest road to Cooperstown paved for him. He was meant to be the elite poster boy for this generation of the game. Well Major League Baseball is making sure he’s the poster boy of something for this generation, it just happens to be steroids.
When you think back to the 19 years we’ve had of Alex Rodriguez it’s really just disappointing to...
If Major League Baseball were to ban Alex Rodriguez for life because of performance-enhancing drugs the New York Yankees would get off the hook for nearly $100 million in future salary.
The Rangers would not be so lucky.
Major League Baseball officials seeking to put the Biogenesis scandal behind them have offered 50-game suspensions to eight of the nine players facing discipline this week while continuing efforts to hammer out a deal with Alex Rodriguez that would prevent the steroid-stained slugger from ever returning to the field sources told the Daily News.
Officials from MLB union leaders and...
I read it on the Mail. That's Pinstripe Pinup Snooki, with her personal trainer, Anthony, who is pointing to her cleavage, which is obscured by the pop-up ad. Good news: The sad state of the 2013 Yankees has not caused Snooki to overcompensate by eating. In fact, she's lost 50 pounds, becoming a take-charge mom. She's happy! She's fit! She confident! Snooki wants...
