Outfielder Curtis Granderson of the New York Yankees suffered a fracture in his right forearm after being plunked by J.A. Happ of the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Granderson is expected to miss 10 weeks of action which would put his return around the third or fourth week of the season. For now I am deducting 95 at bats from his projection and then re-ranking him. Adjusting the numbers for his time on the disabled list, I now have Granderson falling 12-15 spots in my outfield rankings which puts him in a group with with Desmond Jennings, Shin-Soo Choo and Alex Rios at $18 based on a 15 team mixed league format. The Cincinnati Reds have moved shortstop prospect Billy Hamilton to center field which takes a small hit out of his value in keeper and dynasty formats. He was pure gold at shortstop with the potential to steal 70+ bases in a season and while he will still carry a lot of value in the outfield once he hits the major leagues, his long term value decreases slightly. It could also impact your draft process depending on your league rules. Some leagues will allow you to draft minor league players based on where they played the previous season. In that case, you might be able to grab Hamilton in the reserve round and keep his shortstop eligibility. Otherwise if he is picked up in season, some leagues will change the eligibility process to games played based on the current season in which case he becomes an outfielder only so check your league rules and plan accordingly. Closer Ryan Madson of the Los Angeles Angels has experienced soreness in his pitching elbow as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. I have Ernesto Frieri ranked ahead of him at closer and I expect him to finish the season with more saves than Madson does, given Frieri’s performance last season as well as Madson’s arm troubles.     Curtis Granderson’s New Value After Injury is a post from: Fantasy Baseball Tools
