ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Diamondbacks third baseman Eric Chavez left Thursday's game against the Rangers in the first inning with a strained right oblique. Chavez grabbed his side after fouling off the second pitch he saw from Texas right-hander Justin Grimm on Thursday. Chavez also fouled off the first pitch. Cliff Pennington replaced Chavez in the lineup. The 35-year-old Chavez is hitting .325 with seven homers and 25 RBIs as a part-time starter at third base. Eric Chavez Placed on the 15 Day DL

Eric Chavez‘ best days are long behind him, but he keeps finding ways to stay on the field for various teams.
