Tattoos last a lifetime, but the permanence hasn't kept ink from going through its share of fads. In the 1990s it seemed like everybody got thorns or barbed wire inked on their upper arms. In the early 2000s, the tat du jour was a tribal design -- if you were a former heavyweight champ, maybe you even put one on your face. Fortunately, Dallas Braden isn't one to follow the crowd. The Oakland A's posted a Facebook photo of the pitcher sporting a tattoo that is truly timeless: Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers riding a dolphin through a rainbow....

Athletics owner interested in Ramirez

Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff said he is open to the idea of signing slugger Manny Ramirez. Wolff told the San Francisco Chronicle that he could not see any "non-baseball" reason for bringing in Ramirez. A's pitcher gets unique tattoo of Rollie Fingers

Yes, you are seeing that correctly. That is Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers in all of his mustachioed glory, riding a dolphin in front of a rainbow, engraved in ink on Oakland A’s pitcher Dallas Braden’s left upper arm. Okay, okay, I have serious doubts this is real. For one, its gleam in light reminds me of those temporary tattoos kids can get at Chuck E. Cheese...

Oakland A’s pitcher Dallas Braden really got a tattoo on his arm of Rollie Fingers riding a dolphin jumping over a rainbow. The photo was shared on the A’s Facebook page, and they say Braden got the tattoo after doing a commercial shoot with Rollie. Braden has always been a silly dude, so we can’t say we expected anything less. I guess that’s how they roll...

Dallas Braden's New Tattoo Is the Stuff of Legend

oldtimefamilybaseball: Apparently the way you do it in the 209 is by tattooing Rollie Fingers riding a dolphin on a rainbow: Sadly, this looks like it’s has been done for an upcoming Athletics commercial and not ink that will mark Braden’s body for the rest of his life. If I had to choose, I’d have to go with Eddie Murray riding a unicorn over a gorgeous sunset. With Ken...
