KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Jordan Danks atoned for a baserunning blunder in the ninth inning by hitting a solo home run in the 11th that lifted the Chicago White Sox over the Kansas City Royals 2-1 Monday. Danks connected with two outs off Kelvin Herrera (2-3) for his first homer of the season. The White Sox avoided a three-game sweep. Down 1-0, the White Sox loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth. After Paul Konerko grounded into a home-to-first double play, Danks entered as a pinch-runner at second base for Adam Dunn. Conor Gillaspie was intentionally walked to load the bases. Alexei Ramirez followed with an infield single up the middle that made it 1-all, but Danks was caught in a rundown between third and home and tagged out, ending the rally.

Jake Peavy threw a bullpen session on Monday and is expected to make the start on Wednesday against the New York Mets. Two days ago it was still grabbing me pretty hard, and I had to be relatively pain-free two days prior to me pitching. That was two...

Good Memories Of Covering Robin Ventura On The Beat

One of the players I most enjoyed covering was Robin Ventura for those two years he played for the Yankees. In that clubhouse full of stars and egos, Ventura was a voice of calm, reason and humorous relief. I enjoyed stopping by his locker to shoot the breeze for a minute or two, talking about things other than baseball. Very smart, clever and possessing an insight on numerous issues...

May 7: Mets 1, White Sox 0

I’m not even going to put any little intro here today. You can just take a look at any of my past wraps and it would be the same old story. I’ll just get right to it ... Offense Continues to ... Well, You Know I know Matt Harvey is good. Not just good, but REALLY good. That guy has electric stuff. However, one hit? An infield hit? 14 strikeouts as a team? It...

May 4: Royals 2, White Sox 0

We considered just copy & pasting a wrap from a previous start Jeremy Guthrie had against the White Sox here. Because frankly, there's just not much to say. The Royals defeated the White Sox 2-0 on Saturday evening thanks to Guthrie (pictured above, H/T AP) and despite a very strong effort from Sox' starter Dylan Axelrod. After letting up two runs in the...
