Left-hander John Danks has been put on the 15-day disabled list by the Chicago White Sox as he recovers from surgery last August.
Danks was 3-4 with a 5.70 ERA in nine starts, all before mid-May, and had surgery Aug. 6 to repair a capsule tear and remove debris in his rotator cuff and biceps. He has allowed 20 earned runs and 27 hits in 11 innings over four spring training starts.
Danks is entering the second season of a $60 million, five-year contract. The DL move was retroactive to Friday.
Left-hander Leyson Septimo also was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. Septimo has a strained left shoulder and hasn't pitched since March 7.
Chicago reassigned left-hander David Purcey to its minor league camp.
BEST OF MAXIM
Although the John Danks injury tale is far from over, we at least got our temporary answer that finally put the speculation to rest. But just as that resolved itself, two more prominent White Sox' members have little question marks surrounding them: Alex Rios and Jesse Crain.

White Sox reliever Jesse Crain made his first Cactus League appearance since February 25 on Monday. The right hander recently pitched a pair of minor league games prior to Monday’s outing.
The White Sox will wait until this weekend to make a decision on whether Crain will start the year on the active roster or the disabled list.
In Monday’s outing Crain worked two-thirds of an...
Despite all the tremors around the division, the Chicago White Sox stood their ground.
They shuffled their front office, committed to their top two starting pitchers and split with one of their final links to the 2005 championship team. One thing they didn't do was make any splashy acquisitions, and if the perception is that other teams might have caught or passed them, well...
Konerko has 22 career home runs against the Yankees.
Threat Level: 6
The White Sox were projected to finish in last place in 2012 by many pundits, yet they almost won the division if it not for a sub-par September (13-18; 4-11 in the final 15 games). First year manager Robin Ventura definitely got the most out of his team and will need to do the same in 2013 if they are going to...
Chris Sale was sharp in his final tuneup for his first opening day start, and Dayan Viciedo homered to help power the Chicago White Sox past the Texas Rangers 11-3 on Tuesday.
Brandon Short hit his first two home runs of the spring and Angel Sanchez also connected for the White Sox. Sale struck out five and allowed a solo shot to Geovany Soto in four otherwise perfect innings.
When FanGraphs was in Arizona earlier this spring, our merry band of nerds made our way to a Jarrod Parker vs Chris Sale afternoon tilt. The result on that 16th of March — an 11-5 win for the White Sox and bad performances from the two starting pitchers — was mostly unimportant to everyone in involved. But a few innings sitting behind the plate did provide some insights, including...
In an expected move, the Chicago White Sox have placed
left-handed starting pitcher John Danks on the disabled list as he continues to
recover from the shoulder surgery that ended his 2012 campaign. General manager
Rick Hahn told reporters – including Scott Merkin of MLB.com – that Danks’
timetable for return has not yet been set.
"He's going to stay back...
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Chris Sale felt much better about his final tuneup for opening day than Matt Harrison did.
Sale was sharp in his last Cactus League outing and Dayan Viciedo homered to help power the Chicago White Sox past Harrison and the Texas Rangers 11-3 on Tuesday.
Brandon Short hit his first two home runs of the spring and Angel Sanchez also connected for the White...
There is know better way to start the baseball season off more than bringing an old friend of both Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at U.S. Cellular Field on Opening Day. That old friend is no other than Bo Vincent Jackson, who is one of the greatest two sport athlete of all-time. Jackson spent 4 season with KC (1986-1990)...
Watch this great catch by a Chicago White Sox fan who jumps out of his seat to snare a foul ball that had bounced off the dugout during a game with the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday night.
