Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
A few more losses like these last two to the Braves, and I may have to change my whole rosy outlook on September. After praising Jerry Manuel's cool demeanor, the resiliency of this pieced-together bullpen and the overall bounce-back ability of the Mets, this was a red-flag weekend at Shea.Still feel good about Luis Ayala? The key down the stretch is supposed to be the Mets' starters, but it didn't help much in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader or again on Sunday. There's only way around this bullpen mess -- more runs. Lots and lots of runs. Yeah, I know that doesn't sound like some big analytical solution, but shuffling around these relief pitchers brings to mind the ol' "shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic" line.
I'm not saying the Mets are the Titanic -- I still believe they can hold on. But moving around people at this point isn't going to do much.I know my colleague Ken Davidoff wrote on Sunday that the Mets won't be in the K-Rod sweepstakes this winter, but they still have another two weeks to change their mind. A few more blown saves may do a lot to re-shape that front-office philosophy.

I agree with Lennon, the Mets will have to get K-Rod to fix their bullpen woes...
