The Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t lost a series since mid-June, but after splitting the first two games of the series, the Red Sox will send Jake Peavy to the mound Sunday night to hopefully break that streak. After bouncing back from a tough loss on Thursday night, Jon Lester led the way in Game 2 of the series and pitched an absolute gem. The bats came alive for the Red Sox after being shut out the night before, and one of those bats belonged to a rookie who was anxious to get his first hit out of the way. Less than 24 hours after notching his first major league hit, Xander Bogaerts will get his second major league start at shortstop for Boston, and bat eighth. With left-hander Chris Capuano slated to start for the Dodgers, David Ortiz finds himself out of the lineup for the second day in a row. Mike Napoli will once again be taking over the duties at first base and bat cleanup. The start marks Peavy’s fifth with the Red Sox, and the right-hander has only allowed one or two runs in three of his four starts since joining the team in late July. Peavy allowed just one run in 5 2/3 innings of work against the Giants his last time out in a 3-2 walkoff loss. Check out the lineups for both teams below. Red Sox (76-55) Jacoby Ellsbury, CF Shane Victorino, RF Dustin Pedroia, 2B Mike Napoli, 1B Jonny Gomes, LF Will Middlebrooks, 3B Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C Xander Bogaerts, SS Jake Peavy, RHP Dodgers (76-53) Carl Crawford, LF Nick Punto, 2B Adrian Gonzalez, 1B Hanley Ramirez, SS Yasiel Puig, RF Skip Schumaker, CF A.J. Ellis, C Juan Uribe, 3B Chris Capuano, LHP Filed under: Boston Red Sox, Eastern Bank Leading Off, Headlines, NESN Staff
