Yesterday, the Milwaukee Brewers acquired David Weathers from the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named later. The move marked Doug Melvin's latest attempt to improve the ailing pitching staff.  Affordable starting pitching has been difficult to come by this summer, so the Brewers' GM has turned to veteran arms such as Jesus Colome, Claudio Vargas, and now Weathers to bolster the overworked bullpen.  Melvin is clearly attempting to bail water out of his sinking ship until Dave Bush and Jeff Suppan can return to plug the holes in the rotation. Cincinnati has until October to determine which of the Brewers minor leaguers they want in return for Weathers (they received a list from Milwaukee).  If the two sides cannot come to an agreement, the Brewers will send cash to the Reds to make up for it.
