David Wright will return tonight, from his first stint on the DL since his major league career began in 2004. After being hit in the head by a Matt Cain fastball, Wright was placed on the DL as a precaution due to a concussion. Initially Wright fought the assignment, but the Mets after being criticized repeatedly for their handling of Ryan Church weren't making the same mistakes twice. In this awful season where Wright was the only star left, many felt that the responsibility had begun to weigh on him and the time off might have done him some good, to step away and have a chance to clear his mind while relaxing."He looks like, aside from the concussion thing, his mind is clear," Mets hitting coach Howard Johnson said. "That's probably the only good part of that whole episode is that it gave him a chance to take a little bit of a break, which is something he usually doesn't get." source Star Ledger
