Jim Johnson got a win he didn’t want. Chris Tillman didn’t win a game he should have. Thanks to Chris Davis neither Johnson nor Tillman left the Orioles clubhouse with a frown.
After Johnson blew his first save since July 5 denying Tillman his 15th win Davis came through with a two-run double in the 10th inning giving the Orioles a 5-2 win over the San Francisco Giants before 41434 at AT&T Park on Friday night.
Tillman pitched brilliantly allowing just a run on four hits in eight innings with a career-high nine strikeouts and was on the verge of a 15-3 record.
Johnson allowed the first three batters to reach in the ninth and came within inches of catching Hunter Pence’s bouncer up the middle.
“Obviously the way that Tilly pitched tonight he deserves a win. Obviously I didn’t do my job but the team gets a win” Johnson said.
“Find the positive in it.”
The positive was Davis.

It’s the dog days of summer as far as Major League Baseball is concerned. The non-waiver trading deadline has now passed, and the Baltimore Orioles sit 5.5 games back of Boston for first place in the AL East, as well as 1.5 games back of Oakland for that coveted second Wild Card spot. The birds lost to San Francisco 3-2 on Saturday, despite Chris Davis swatting his league-leading...

Orioles right-hander Jason Hammel is out indefinitely after receiving a cortisone injection in the flexor mass muscle in his right forearm on Friday after his recent MRI was reviewed by renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews.
The injection means that Hammel certainly won’t be ready to return from the disabled list when he is eligible on Tuesday. After taking a week off from throwing...
When Chris Davis is in the on-deck circle, it's not often he's watching a teammate walked intentionally. It was no bother either way. He was just as ready to hit.
Davis hit a two-out, two-run double in the 10th inning and the Baltimore Orioles beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2 Friday night.
''I'm just looking for a pitch over the plate,'' Davis said...
In the eighth inning Saturday, Chris Davis connected for one of the fastest, fiercest home runs to clear the fences that anyone can remember at AT&T Park.
San Francisco closer Sergio Romo then found himself staring at the majors' home run leader an inning later with the tying run at first.
Romo retired Davis on a game-ending groundout, and solid pitching wasn't wasted...
When the Baltimore Orioles elected to let Mark Reynolds walk
over the offseason, some fans were upset with the decision. His hot start for
the Cleveland Indians made the O’s look a bit silly for not trying harder to
bring him back, but then Reynolds came crashing back down to earth so hard that
he was ultimately designated for assignment by the Tribe. Once again available...
Orioles fans are mostly positive people. Unlike a lot of other sports fans they remember the good in athletes much more than the bad. It takes a lot for an Oriole fan to turn on a player.
Take Mark Reynolds.
Well that’s what a lot of Orioles fans would like the team to do—take him back.
As soon was Reynolds designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday Orioles...
J.J. Hardy hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning, Adam Jones added a three-run shot in the ninth and the Baltimore Orioles pounded the San Francisco Giants 10-2 on Sunday.
Hardy's 21st home run of the season gave the Orioles a 3-2 lead. Four players drove in a run in the eighth, Jones hit his 24th homer and every player in Baltimore's starting lineup finished...
The Baltimore Orioles haven't had a 20-game winner in almost three decades.
If he continues his current pace, Chris Tillman has an opportunity to end that drought.
Tillman looks to win his fifth consecutive start and help the Orioles stay perfect on an eight-game road trip Friday night in the series opener against the San Francisco Giants.
Tillman (14-3, 3.89 ERA) has won...

Hunter Pence hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the sixth inning as San Francisco's stagnant lineup finally got to Wei-Yin Chen, and the Giants beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 on Saturday.
Chris Davis hit his majors-leading 42nd home run for the Orioles leading off the eighth against Santiago Casilla, then grounded out against closer Sergio Romo to end it with a runner on first...
I went to the game yesterday for the first time since Opening Day. All in all it wasn’t a bad game for the first part of it. Jedd Gyorko crushed a home run, which will hopefully get him started, and Eric Stults pitched a decent game. However, the Orioles are a tough team with a great lineup and we saw that yesterday as JJ Hardy and Chris Davis both hit homers to give the Orioles...
