With a record-setting performance that won’t soon be forgotten, top prospect Matt Harvey wrote his name into the Mets history books with a brilliant 11 strikeout performance in his major league debut.
Harvey smashed the previous Mets record of eight strikeouts in a debut set in 1967 by both Tom Seaver and Bill Denehy who set the mark three days apart that season.
Harvey’s eleven strikeouts are the most in a major league debut since Stephen Strasburg had 14 for the Nationals against Pittsburgh on June 8, 2010.

The big right-hander snapped the Mets six-game losing streak as the team edged the D-Backs 3-1 to open their 11-game West Coast trip.
Wow…. Just wow….
