The Chicago Cubs are no longer talking to the Arizona Diamondbacks about star outfielder Justin Upton. Justin Upton
The two teams were engaged in talks to see if they were a match to send Upton to Chicago. But the D’Backs reportedly wanted shortstop Starlin Castro in return for Upton.
But the team is not willing to trade their young shortstop. Castro is the best young talent on the Cubs, as they look towards rebuilding the team.
The Diamondbacks will continue to look for a trading partner for Upton, as he has been rumored to be traded for months. If they can find a partner within the next month, he will be dealt by spring training.
He previously rejected a trade a couple of days ago to the Seattle Mariners.

Couple things from the Cubs Convention
The guys at Vine Line got me a ticket to this year's convention.Because they're awesome. In the past I always arrived late to that Saturday morning meeting with the GM and Manager, ended up standing in the back of the crowded ballroom getting pictures of the backs of Cub fan's heads.I thought with Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer, Dale Sveum and Shiraz Rehman, I should finally...
Arizona Diamondbacks sign Quebec Capitales Chris Cox
In my never-ending quest to stay on top of MLB/Independent League signings, the No.1 and No.2 rated Baseball America Independent League prospects have both been signed by MLB clubs.
In late October, the Miami Marlins signed No.1 Indy prospect Kevin Gelinas. Just a few weeks later in late November, Chris Cox (St. George, ON), was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Braves Rumors: Atlanta ‘Best Fit’ for Diamondbacks’ Justin Upton?
It appears more and more likely that the Arizona
Diamondbacks will part ways with outfielder Justin Upton prior to the start of
the 2013 MLB season, and Buster Olney of ESPN believes the Atlanta Braves could
be the “best fit” for the young slugger.
Olney notes that depending on what the Texas Rangers decide
to do, the Braves may well be the best fit for Upton. Texas...
Jeff Samardzija under the radar
After years of being the golden boy and fan favorite who couldn't quite get there, Jeff Samardzija arrived as a starter in 2012. His record and ERA perhaps belittle the type of season he really had. His record of 9-13 with an ERA of 3.89 in 28 starts might not excite anyone. If you dig a little deeper, there was a lot of impressive stuff about his season considering it was his...
Player Profile #143: Ian Kennedy | SP | ARI
Ian Kennedy‘s 2011 and 2012 seasons were actually very similar with one major difference: home runs allowed. Kennedy has always displayed slight fly ball tendencies, and in 2011 that wasn’t much of a problem. That year he allowed 19 homers with a 7.7% HR/FB rate, and he rode that below-league average mark to a surprising 2.88 ERA and a 21-win season.
In 2012, Kennedy posted almost...
