As the Biogenesis saga slogs on, Alex Rodriguez and his reps are seeking to make a deal with MLB instead of possibly facing a lifetime ban from baseball.  While this is not in the least shocking, it seems MLB wants to work out a deal with him as well.  One need look no further than the previous sentence to understand why baseball will never, ever be the same again.   Many tend to put the blame for the ruination of baseball on the players who are caught using.  It is easy to do.  I have even done it myself in the past.  This however is not the truth of the matter.  The truth is the ruination of baseball is the fault of Major League Baseball.  The players are just the vehicle by which they have completed the ruination.  MLB is responsible for what has happened here and given their willingness to give only the merest of lip service to how much they want the sport clean but in the back rooms work out deals with the players nothing will change. If MLB has this "voluminous evidence" against A-Rod then their only choice should be to ban him for life.  If MLB were serious about making the sport clean.  If MLB were serious about restoring baseball. If MLB were serious about any of this A-Rod would never put on a baseball uniform again.  But they are not serious and they never were.  Ryan Braun is proof of that as is everyone else who has ever faced a PED suspension. MLB is all about making deals.  Deals that keep players in the game, deals that keep players rich, deals that do not interrupt the flow of money for them or the teams or the players.  Ryan Braun will miss the rest of the season, lose 3 million and make 120 million.  He will be back next season, liar that he is, and will continue to make millions.  A-Rod will probably get suspended next season.  He will still make millions upon millions.  He will come back after his suspension and make millions upon millions more.  The deals will be made with each and every player who gets "suspended" this Sunday or Monday.  MLB will be winners, the players will be winners, the fans and the sport will continue to be the biggest losers. Baseball as long as there are PED users and as long as MLB choses the deal over the truth and real punishment will never be the same.  Eventually, as the deals keep being made and players are allowed to keep shooting up, the fans will either come to accept this is what baseball is or they won't.  Those that don't will abandon the sport as so many have already done and those that will, will become sheep in a long line of "go along to get along" people, which are becoming the bulk of the American population.  Accepting wrong doing, lying, deal making, records on the juice, and people who make millions and laugh at you on the way to the bank.  I once thought baseball was the perfect sport that is just a memory now.
