Kyle Gibson's major league debut will have to wait. It appeared as if the 25-year-old Gibson was a candidate to fill the Minnesota Twins' vacancy for Friday's rotation spot. Instead, it will be Samuel Deduno making the start in Detroit, the Twins tweeted on Tuesday. Deduno pitched in 15 games last season for Minnesota and was 6-5 with a 4.44 ERA. While Deduno can be wild at times (53 walks in 79 innings last year), he also has the ability to strike guys out. Deduno posted a 2.70 ERA in three starts for Triple-A Rochester this season. Since Deduno is not on the 40-man roster, the Twins must make a move prior to Friday. One possible option would be to move outfielder Darin Mastroianni to the 60-day disabled list, as he's been sidelined with a stress reaction in his left foot. Gibson pitched a three-hit shutout on Sunday for Rochester, which led some to believe that he might be in line to make his MLB debut on Friday. But the Twins are hoping to see more consistency from their 2009 first-round pick. Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.
