The Kansas City Royals hope a return to the American League can help Jeremy Guthrie after he struggled the last four months as a member of the NL. Facing the Minnesota Twins can only help his re-acclimation. Guthrie is scheduled to make his first start for the Royals on Sunday when they close their series against the Minnesota Twins. Kansas City acquired Guthrie from Colorado this week in exchange for Jonathan Sanchez. Guthrie was 3-9 with a 6.35 ERA in 19 appearances - 15 starts - with the Rockies. He is looking forward to a return to the more familiar AL. Guthrie spent the previous five seasons with Baltimore, winning at least 10 games in a season three times. "I'm excited," Guthrie said. "The first thought is disappointment that I couldn't hold up my end of the bargain in Colorado and help that team win games ... But as I looked at what was in my future and I look at the Royals, I see a perfect fit there." Guthrie's final appearance with th...

Mauer fan shaves jersey into back hair

Unsatisfied with merely owning a jersey of the popular Twins catcher, a clever Joe Mauer fan has decided to take his fandom to a whole new level. In a move reminiscent of the enthusiastic young Spurs fan who had Matt Bonner's likeness shaved into his head, this particular man at Saturday night's Twins-Royals game showed up with Mauer's jersey shaved into the voluminous...

Span leaves game early due to illness

There was plenty of speculation when Twins center fielder Denard Span exited Saturday's game in Kansas City in the eighth inning. Span has frequently been named as one of Minnesota's most valuable trade chips leading up to the July 31 trade deadline. Was he taken out because he was traded? As it turned out, Span just wasn't feeling well after playing in the stifling...

Jonathan Sanchez-Jeremy Guthrie Swap Awesomely Terrible, Could Someday Spark Plenty of Laughter

Somewhere, someday, somehow, we could all sit back and have a good laugh about this one. Twins-White Sox Preview

The last time Francisco Liriano started at U.S. Cellular Field, he tossed a no-hitter in the midst of an otherwise miserable season. The highlight of Liriano's disappointing...
