Derek Holland was spectacular as he allowed only two hits and two walks while striking out seven. The Yankees were not able to register an extra base hit against Holland and registered only two at-bats with runners in scoring position. Mike Trout continued to crush the Tigers, going 4/5 with a double and run. Patrick Corbin remains 9-0 after suffering another no decision.  Corbin would like to follow Max Scherzer’s footsteps and progress to 10-0, but Corbin’s teammates are offering little support. In Corbin’s last five starts, since he became 9-0, Corbin has pitched over seven innings four times, each of those times allowing two or fewer runs.Rangers 2 v Yankees 0: Derek Holland pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven for the Rangers. Chien-Ming Wang was rocked for the Blue Jays, giving up seven earned runs while lasting only 1.2 innings for the Blue Jays. Stephen Drew, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and Shane Victorino hit doubles and Dustin Pedroia jacked a home run for the Red Sox. Maicer Izturis hit a double for the Blue Jays (Boston leads the series 1-0).Mets 3 v Rockies 2: Jeremy Hefner pitched six innings for the Mets, allowing only one earned run while striking out three. Bobby Parnell earned his 14th save. Tyler Chatwood suffered a no decision after tossing six innings of one run ball on four hits and three walks. Wilin Rosario hit a double for the Rockies (New York won the series 1-0).Diamondbacks 3 v Nationals 2: Patrick Corbin remains 9-0 after pitching seven strong innings while allowing only two earned runs. Stephen Strasburg suffered similar fate, pitching seven innings while allowing only two earned runs. Heath Bell picked up his 14th save of the season by closing out the game in the 11th inning. Paul Goldschmidt stole his seventh base of the season, Miguel Montero hit a double, and Aaron Hill hit a home run for the Diamondbacks. Ryan Zimmerman hit a double and Ian Desmond hit a home run for the Nationals (Washington won the series 2-1).Cubs 7 v Brewers 2: Matt Garza was electric as he struck out ten and allowed just one run in seven innings. Wily Peralta continued to struggle giving up seven runs, three earned, in only five innings. Dioner Navarro homered and Ryan Sweeney and Starlin Castro stole a base for the Cubs. Logan Schafer hit a double and Juan Francisco homered for the Brewers (Chicago won the series 2-1).Angels 3 v Tigers 1: Jered Weaver took a no decision after pitching seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks for the Angels. Doug Fister suffered an equal fate, taking a no decision after tossing seven innings of one run ball on seven hits and one walk for the Tigers.
