Derek Jeter could come back to the New York Yankees on Sunday. Jeter has played just one game for the Yankees this season and is working to return from a quad injury. Before Friday’s game Jeter told reporters that he felt well enough to play. A doctor was expected to examine him early this evening, but no announcement was forthcoming immediately after he was checked out. He ran Friday and reported no issues. The Yankees are in desperate need of bodies for their starting lineup and added outfielder Alfonso Soriano from the Cubs earlier in the day on Friday. STRUGGLE: Soriano goes 0-for-5 in return to Yankees While Jeter is eligible to come off the disabled list on Saturday the Yankees will wait until Sunday to activate him.
