The Boston Herald released details of the minor league contract that Bartolo Colon recently signed with the Boston Red Sox. The deal calls for Colon to make $18,000 / month while at AAA Pawtucket. If he makes the major league team he will earn a guaranteed base salary of $1.25 million. If he can make 30 starts the deal could earn him almost $5.75 million in incentives, big IF considering his injury history. I hate to say this, but it is not a bad signing for the Red Sox in all but one way, ill get to that later in this post.

  • Nothing but a win for Boston here. If he blows, it doesn't matter because they got him cheap. If he gets back to his Cy Young form, look at the middle reliever/spot starter they got fo cheap. No risk with the possibility of huge rewards.
