Detroit Tigers left-handed relief pitcher, Bobby Seay, has not only missed the 2010 but will also miss the 2011 surgery due to shoulder surgery. He’s expected to miss the next 10-12 months, according to John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press.
“It has taken a while to become upbeat about this,” he said. The surgery “is something I know I need to do. If I didn’t get anything done, my chances of pitching again are 0%.”
The 32-year-old lefty tried to deal with his shoulder issues through rehab work, but ultimately it did not work. He’s a free-agent after this season, so it’s not certain he will return to the Tigers once he recovers.
In 2009, Seay was 6-3 with a 4.25 ERA in 67 appearances. He made $1.3 million that season.
