Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder Adam Eaton will miss six to eight weeks after being diagnosed with a left elbow UCL sprain, the team has announced. OFFICIAL: @dbacks OF @adamspankyeaton will miss 6-8 weeks with left elbow UCL sprain — Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) March 22, 2013 Eaton was removed from an exhibition game earlier this week after sliding hard into third base. It’s not clear if this is when he sustained his injury. Eaton made his debut with the D’backs last season, hitting .259/.382/.412 with seven extra-base hits over 103 plate appearances. The 24-year-old spent a majority of the year with Arizona’s Double- and Triple-A affiliates, maintaining a batting line of .375/.456/.523 with 47 doubles, five triples and seven home runs over 613 plate appearances. Eaton was supposed to be the D’backs regular in center field to start the season. Now, he’s set to start the year off on the disabled list, joining offseason acquisition Cody Ross. Considering Arizona will be without Eaton and Ross to begin the season, they project a starting outfield that consists of Jason Kubel, A.J. Pollock and Gerardo Parra. The New Fantasy Baseball Ranking of Adam Eaton

Diamondbacks’ Aaron Hill, hit or miss

Aaron Hill’s lack of strikeouts would indicate he’s a consistent hitter, but he’s not. Hitting .205 in 2010 and .246 in 2011, his season’s average was aided by a torrid finish with the Arizona Diamondbacks as he was hitting .225 with the Blue Jays. Since being traded to the Diamondbacks, Hill has been one of baseball’s best offensive second basemen. Just look at the numbers.... Read more
