Eaton made his debut with the D’backs last season, hitting
.259/.382/.412 with seven extra-base hits over 103 plate appearances. The
24-year-old spent a majority of the year with Arizona’s Double- and Triple-A
affiliates, maintaining a batting line of .375/.456/.523 with 47 doubles, five
triples and seven home runs over 613 plate appearances.
Eaton was supposed to be the D’backs regular in center field
to start the season. Now, he’s set to start the year off on the disabled list, joining
offseason acquisition Cody Ross. Considering Arizona will be without Eaton and
Ross to begin the season, they project a starting outfield that consists of
Jason Kubel, A.J. Pollock and Gerardo Parra.
