WOW. All i have to say is WOW: The D-backs completed a deal to acquire right-handers Dan Haren and Connor Robertson from the A's in exchange for six prospects, it was announced Friday afternoon. In addition, the D-backs sent closer Jose Valverde to the Astros in exchange for infielder Chris Burke and right-handers Chad Qualls and Juan Gutierrez.

  • This is the second straight day of great news for Dbacks fans. (Yesterday's news, of course, being that the only reason Todd Pratt's walkoff homerun in game 4 of the 1999 NLDS went over the fence at all was because Pratt was sticking needles in his ass.)

    I'm thrilled.
  • Really just a spectacular deal by the DBacks...I am still a little dumbfounded that Oakland found Haren so expendable given his contract, etc.
  • yeah, i'd agree. any thoughts on the early favorite for the new d-backs closer?
  • The A's need some new players in the farm system, so i feel it was a good deal because they are getting good talent back. Billy knows what he's doing. I dont think Haren will do that well in the long run, he is getting tired, just look at the last 15 starts. He had CY young in the bag, but got tired, its ok. good luck to him in zona.
  • If you look at the track record of Hudson and Mulder, the Dbacks are in for trouble, but if Haren can stay healthy, this is a hell of a deal for both sides.
