The Diamondbacks weren’t a whole lot better at delivering big hits on Thursday night but they came up with just enough of them to support LHP Wade Miley’s strong outing and come away with a four-game series split with the rebuilding Chicago Cubs. Miley gave up just one run in 7 2/3 innings and Aaron Hill homered and doubled to lead the Diamondbacks to a win at Chase Field. Miley turned in his 10th consecutive start in which he allowed three earned runs or less. In the first Hill doubled home leadoff man Adam Eaton — who ran through third-base coach Matt Williams’ stop sign — to give the Diamondbacks an early lead. Cliff Pennington’s RBI double in the fourth preceded Hill’s solo homer an inning later. Miley retired the first seven batters he faced but had to tough it out after taking a grounder off the back of the right knee from Welington Castillo in the third. He stayed in the game and got out of the inning with no scoreboard damage. “I know he’s tough but it hit him pretty square” Hill said. “He might wake up (this) morning and realize how hard it hit him.” In the fifth 3B Martin Prado was leg-whipped in the neck by Cubs SS Starlin Castro on a slide into second as Castro was coming down from a leaping relay from the outfield. Prado also remained in the game stealing third before Gerardo Parra grounded out to end the inning.
