Following the Arizona Diamondbacks surprise signing of free
agent Cody Ross, outfielders Justin Upton and Jason Kubel are back on the
trading block and “someone will go,” a source tells Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
They will surely be entertaining offers, and as one person
familiar with their thinking put it, flat out, "Someone will go.''
The Diamondbacks currently have four projected starting
outfielders on their roster, including Kubel, Upton, Ross and Gerardo Parra,
beyond their young players such as Adam Eaton. Heyman notes that Arizona covets
Parra for the defense he provides, meaning either Upton or Kubel are poised to
be dealt if the Diamondbacks want to move and outfielder this winter.
Beyond the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners, who had been
attempting to acquire Upton earlier this offseason, Heyman says the
