Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Wade Miley was scratched
from today’s spring training start due to discomfort in his left biceps muscle,
according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.
Miley told reporters that the team is going to focus on strengthening
the southpaw’s throwing arm in hopes of easing the ailment.
"We're just going to strengthen it back up and go from
there," Miley said. "It's nothing serious, just a little tight and
the ball isn't coming out the way I want it to, like a little dead arm a little
bit, a little tired, I guess."
Miley said he’s dealt with similar injuries before, and
manager Kirk Gibson referred to it as dead arm, something many pitchers are
experiencing this time of year. Arizona is confident the injury isn’t serious,
as they believe Miley will only be sidelined for one start. Josh Collmenter
will start in Miley’s place today when the D’backs take on the Colorado
