We all know Daisuke is looking for a place other than Fenway to call home, obviously. Well, Dice-K has some idea's. WEEI: According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Daisuke Matsuzaka has an interest in pitching in San Diego with the Padres. The 32-year-old Matsuzaka, who is a free agent, is coming off a 2012 season with the Red Sox in which he returned from Tommy John surgery to a 1-7 mark with an 8.28 ERA in 11 starts. The report states that Matsuzaka has told members of the Japanese media that he would welcome the opportunity to restart his career in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park, where he performed during the first World Baseball Classic. Evidently, the righty pitcher said money wouldn’t hold up a deal. Of course he would love to pitch in a park with 700ft. fences. A place that "robbed" Adrian Gonzalez of a dozen-or-so homers each season. Every pitcher would love to call a stadium like Petco Park home. The only problem is, Dice-K would be pitching for the Padres. The Padres will not be giving Daisuke many runs in support. The huge park won't be much of a help to the record he will be trying to improve on. There may be a positive in this for Dice-K, he may be able to hold opponents to 24 homers a season instead of 25.

Daisuke Matsuzaka Rumors: Could Padres Be a Fit?

With Yu Darvish's success this season, it's easy to forget there was another Japanese phenom who was supposed to light the Majors on fire.  Well, actually there have been numerous Japanese pitchers with high ceilings who fell well short of expectation.  But one such pitcher, Daisuke Matsuzaka fell so famously flat, his name will forever be linked with Japanese pitchers...

Boston Red Sox discussing a Will Myers – Jon Lester swap

If I am trying to study for an exam, the last thing you should do is send me a text message informing me that the Boston Red Sox are in talks to acquire one of the best prospects in Major League Baseball. Of course, this is exactly what my friend Ryan Courville did with a simple text message that read the following: “Will Myers for Jon Lester?” I spit out my coffee and immediately...

Jonny Gomes Jokes About Fenway Park, Says ‘All They Did Here Was Lose’ (Video)

When the Oakland A’s came to visit the Red Sox this past season, most eyes were on Josh Reddick, who had exploded for the A’s since his trade from Boston. But outfielder Jonny Gomes, who was reportedly signed by the Red Sox this week, was also getting a preview of his next baseball home — whether he knew it or not. Gomes and Reddick put on the headsets at Fenway Park for a...

If I Must Own A James Loney Card....

I don't own many James Loney cards, but when I do, they're not cards I seek out. My first ever trade netted me a surprise Loney auto - my only signature of his - and I have a few base cards and the like lying around. However, today's card is one I'm more than happy to own, and it prominently features the former Dodger bust.Of course, as you've probably already...

Your Morning Dump...Where the Sox need to start making moves

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Red Sox, oh, Red Sox, please, the suspense is slowly but surely starting to kill us. Could you throw us a bone? Sign a starter? Trade for a first baseman? Pluck an outfielder off waivers? Vice versa? Versa...

Red Sox Don’t Need A Splash To Improve

In this morning’s Notes column, the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo suggests that the Red Sox need to ‘make a splash’ to improve but the on-field team and the organisation’s PR record after the disappointment of 2012. Cafardo suggests targeting Josh Hamilton as a free agent or trading for Joe Mauer to address the team’s lack of star power in the every day lineup. Quite...

Ft. Myers Mayor regrets building JetBlue Park

Rander Henderson, Mayor of Ft. Myers, belives the city and county would have been better off without JetBlue Park. Mike Napoli May Not Be Marquee Free Agent, But He’s Likely Best Fit for Red Sox’ First Base Needs

Have you ever saved up for something for a really long time, only to smash open the piggy bank, run out the door and find out that what you wanted isn’t there anymore? That’s sort of where the Red Sox are this free agent season, where they’ve cleared a ton of cap space but don’t have much of a market to go spending in. They want to make wise choices, and they want to contend...
