If you buy anyone you really “CARE” about, Red Sox tickets for the holidays, you must really really HATE them deep down inside. But according to the Red Sox marketing machine and ownership, things are “LOOKING BRIGHTER”! HOW are things looking brighter? DO TELL?!  And cut the SPIN and cutesy “Wally The Green Monster” HORSESH*T! Hiring a career fourth place manager in John Farrell? Signing Johnny Gomes? Shopping Jon Lester? Being picked for the A.L. East BASEMENT behind the hated Yankees, Rays, upstart Orioles & newly LOADED Blue Jays? Well, they signed a 37 year old “Big Papi” to a two year extension! HOW EXCITING! Let me go to under my mattress and get my rolls of hundred dollar bills…. What a JOKE….cut the amusement park bullsh*t & just concentrate on REBUILDING!

No Extension In Works For Jon Lester

Adding some fuel to the Jon Lester trade rumor fire, Rob Bradford has a source saying that the Red Sox and Lester have not begun to discuss an extension. With just two years left on Jon Lester’s initial extension, signed back in the 2008-2009 offseason, now would typically be prime territory for extension talks. After [...]

Your Morning Dump...where the rumor du jour is Lester to Kansas City

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Even so, it’s a heck of a chip — if the Royals choose to use it. Wil Myers was the consensus minor-league player of the year and is already drawing heavy interest from numerous clubs. While the Royals are...

Boston Red Sox discussing a Will Myers – Jon Lester swap

If I am trying to study for an exam, the last thing you should do is send me a text message informing me that the Boston Red Sox are in talks to acquire one of the best prospects in Major League Baseball. Of course, this is exactly what my friend Ryan Courville did with a simple text message that read the following: “Will Myers for Jon Lester?” I spit out my coffee and immediately...

Jon Lester Poised for Bounce-Back Year Under John Farrell, Which Makes a Trade Hard to Envision (Video)

Red Sox Nation was thrown a major curveball early this week when a report surfaced stating that the Royals were interested in Jon Lester and could be willing to deal their top prospect in exchange for the left-hander. Trading Lester is something that most Sox fans probably never envisioned, and likely still don’t envision, but the thought of acquiring what many scouts tab as a...

John Farrell Committed to Two-Hitting Coach System, Identifies Victor Rodriguez As ‘Leading Candidate’

BOSTON — The Red Sox are only halfway done with their hitting coach search. Despite hiring Greg Colbrunn to be the club’s primary hitting coach, Red Sox skipper John Farrell reiterated his intention to appoint an assistant hitting coach and employ a two-hitting coach system. Although Farrell is still sifting through candidates, he identified one viable candidate for the open...

Report: Jon Lester Not Part of Trade Talks Between Red Sox, Royals, As ‘Nothing Going On’ Between Teams

A little speculation sure can fire up the hot stove. Kansas City Star reporter Bob Dutton wrote a story this week that suggested that Boston was ready to flip Jon Lester to the Royals in exchange for prized prospect Wil Myers, but a source with the Red Sox has now denied any negotiations for such a deal, according to Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com. “There’s nothing going on,...

Report: Red Sox, Jon Lester Haven’t Discussed Contract Extension Amid Trade Talks

Jon Lester‘s name has been thrust into trade discussions. On Monday night, it was reported that the Royals were interested in acquiring Lester from the Red Sox –– in exchange for top prospect Wil Myers –– to bolster their starting rotation alongside Ervin Santana. On the heels of the trade talks, WEEI.com is reporting that the Red Sox haven’t had any discussions with...

Royals Rumors: James Shields or Jon Lester Possible

The Kansas City Royals are looking to add a starting pitcher who can instantly move to the front of the rotation, possibly someone who could be a true ace.  To do so, though, they would likely have to give up a young prospect.  The question is whether it is worth it to do so, and whether the Royals can afford a front of the line starting pitcher. Bob Dutton of the Kansas City...

Jon Lester Coveted By Royals, Who May Be Willing to Give Up Top Prospect to Acquire Pitching

The Royals have already landed former Angels starting pitcher Ervin Santana and kept Jeremy Guthrie in house for three more seasons — and they’re looking to add even more pitching. Jon Lester and James Shields are two names that have popped up in Royals internal discussions, according to Kansas City Star reporter Bob Dutton. Kansas City general manager Dayton Moore wants to add...

Red Sox, Royals Discuss Jon Lester For Wil Myers Trade

The Red Sox and Royals have discussed a trade that would send Jon Lester to Kansas City for Wil Myers. Does it make sense to consider trading Lester when the rotation is so thin? Rob Bradford is reporting that the Red Sox and Royals d...

Red Sox Coaching Staff Takes Shape

The Red Sox have all but filled out their major league coaching roster (the Sox have yet to add an assistant hitting coach but it will likely be minor league hitting instructor Victor Rodriguez).  The Sox didn’t even introduce Bobby Valentine as manager until December 2nd of last year.  Farrell has been hired and virtually filled his coaching staff by the 29th of November. ...

Lester vs. Shields: Not all that close

The Kansas City Royals have discussed outfield prospect Wil Myers in trades for Tampa Bay Rays right-hander James Shields and Boston Red Sox lefty Jon Lester, according to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.   Great idea. But who says Shields and Lester are equal?   True, their contracts are similar – Lester, 28, is owed $24.625 million through 2014, while Shields, 30, is...

Should The Red Sox Trade Jon Lester?

It came out on Monday night that the Red Sox and Royals have been discussing a trade of starting pitcher Jon Lester for super prospect outfielder Wil Myers. Myers is no standard-issue prospect, though, as he ranked #28 in Baseball Ame...

Winning Powerball Numbers Match Royals Hall of Famer Jersey Numbers, But Winner Admits Pick Was Random (Photo)

The Kansas City Royals were on the tip of everyone’s tongues earlier this week when rumors of a trade with the Red Sox surfaced. They may not end up landing Jon Lester, but the fates could be on the Royals side after Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. The $587.5 million jackpot was finally won this week with the winning numbers — 5, 23, 16, 22, 29 and the powerball, 6 — lining...

Sox bring back three DFA'd players

The Red Sox have signed three players they trimmed from their roster last week to make the 40-man roster deadline, according to Ian Browne of MLB.com. The three? David Carpenter -- the pitcher brought over from Toronto with John Farrell, infielder Ivan De Jesus, and pitcher Sandy Rosario, who was claimed off waivers last month. De Jesus came over in the Dodgers blockbuster in August...
