We were able to get a read on him.” [...] Hurdle placed the Pirates’ interest in Young in “the very early stages.” “We’ve had some conversations about him internally,” Hurdle said, “but I’ve yet to talk to [general manager] Neal Huntington. I’m glad he came in. It was a worthwhile experience, and where it takes us, we’ll see.” That sort of sounds like a polite “thanks for coming, but we’ll pass” … but who knows?
