Dmitri Young works out, Clint Hurdle “curious”

tweeted: A lot of people seem to be interested in the whole Dmitri Young situation, so here’s your update: Young held up well during a rigorous workout. “He met all the criteria we wanted to see,” Hurdle said. “He ran the bases, took balls at first base, threw from the outfield and hit from both sides of the plate. We were able to get a read on him.” [...] Hurdle placed the Pirates’ interest in Young in “the very early stages.” “We’ve had some conversations about him internally,” Hurdle said, “but I’ve yet to talk to [general manager] Neal Huntington. I’m glad he came in. It was a worthwhile experience, and where it takes us, we’ll see.” That sort of sounds like a polite “thanks for coming, but we’ll pass” … but who knows?
