Follow me on this one. If Todd Helton is an All-Star in 2011, it may just be what punches his ticket to Cooperstown.Helton, at this current moment in time, is a borderline Hall-of-Famer. He has had a great career, but playing in Colorado, both because of the altitude and the lack of exposure, has left the Tennessee native as an easy player to write off. It is very conceivable that Helton will retire in a few years, and when the voters look at him, will say that he only had five good years, and the rest was just above average. However, voters could see an All-Star berth at the age of 37, seven years removed from his last appearance, as proof that he had a great career, not just a good few years. Being an All-Star would essentially bridge the gap in Helton's career, and draw a little more attention to his career numbers.
