2011 Batting Champion Miguel Cabrera
With the Detroit Tigers recent big signing of free agent 1B Prince Fielder, there have been rumors of Miguel Cabrera getting traded for defensive reasons. I first off want to say that I think it’s very unlikely that the Tigers will trade the reigning A.L MVP, and it’s semi unfair of us to even be talking about it. We should be showing some love for Cabrera right now, instead of questioning his ability to move to 3B and the liability it will be defensively. I have never played baseball professionally, but I would have to assume that any professional willing to make this move for the team is a gesture not to be taken lightly, not to mention the hit it would take to your pride.
For a player to have a .344 avg. 30 HRs, 105 RBI’s and 111 Runs, finish in the top 5 in MVP voting and be dubbed as the best hitter in the A.L.,then be asked to make way for a player that is only 1 year younger, that they are paying more money to.. can’...
