Ivan De Jesus hit a two-run double with two outs in the ninth to give the Dodgers the lead and Dee Gordon went airborne to turn a game-ending double play as the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied past the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-7 on Tuesday night.
The Diamondbacks, who squandered a five-run lead going into the seventh, took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the eighth on Lyle Overbay's homer off Josh Lindblom (2-0).
J.J. Putz (0-3) couldn't close it for Arizona, allowing De Jesus to drive a double to center and make it 8-7.
With runners on first and third in the bottom of the ninth, Kenley Jansen got Jason Kubel to ground to second and Gordon leaped over a late sliding Justin Upton to make a one-hop throw and complete the double play.

Talk about taking the bad with the good. The Dodgers completed a sweep of a three-game series against the World Champion Cardinals Sunday night only to get more bad news along two fronts.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled third baseman Josh Bell from Triple-A Reno and designated infielder Cody Ransom for assignment.

Los Angeles County prosecutors declined to file felony charges Tuesday against four men arrested for a postgame beating and brawl outside Dodger Stadium, an incident that stoked memories of the vicious beating last season of a San Francisco Giants fan, but proved far less serious.
Because all the injuries involved were minor and investigators could not determine who instigated Sunday...
Javy Guerra delivers and Willie Bloomquist bunts it into the umpire’s coin purse as an act of vengeance for losing the game
The latest Sports Illustrated cover reads “Fun and games in L.A.”
That’s exactly what it feels like around here, too. There is much excitement around what the future holds for the Los Angeles Dodgers, now that a new ownership group has taken control.
Magic Johnson seems like the perfect fit as an owner, and Matt Kemp is the perfect face for the franchise ...
PHOENIX Miami removed closer Heath Bell from that role before reinstating him earlier this season. The Angels demoted closer Jordan Walden after a sporadic start.Nothing like that is happening here.J. J. Putz will remain the Diamondbacks closer, manager Kirk Gibson said with an exclamation point Wednesday.
Oh, yeah. No question, Gibson said at his pregame briefing.
I just think...
Manager Bobby Valentine made it perfectly clear on Wednesday that he wants Kevin Youkilis in a Red Sox uniform, and that he doesn't foresee a trade involving the corner infielder. If the Red Sox were to open up the phone lines, though, they'd likely have plenty of suitors. Youkilis has proven to be a valuable player over the years when healthy, and there's reason to believe...

Another profitable day yesterday, winning my only play of the Giants over the Brewers, and improving my season record to 13-5, +$808. Let’s see if I can keep it going today with the following:
