Fox Sports West:
The Dodgers made a small deal at the non-waiver trade deadline, adding catching depth by acquiring minor leaguer Drew Butera from the Minnesota Twins.
Butera, who turns 30 next month, has appeared in 186 games over the last four seasons, including two this year. He is a career .182 hitter.
Butera has spent most of this season at triple-A Rochester, where he hit .218.
In exchange for Butera, the Twins will receive a player to be named later or cash considerations. Butera will be assigned to triple-A Albuquerque..
The highlight of Butera's career was probably in 2011, when he caught Francisco Liriano's no-hitter.
Butera is the son of Sal Butera, a journeyman catcher who played in nine major league seasons from 1980-1988.
Butera will provide the Dodgers with organizational depth at catcher. He could be called up to the major leagues when rosters expand in September.

Butera appeared in just two games with the Twins this year as a backup catcher, and has always been known more for...
I was all ready to write a lengthy post on how the Twins not making any moves was the correct move for the team to make, and then this tweet came across, shortly after the deadline expired

MINNEAPOLIS -- Major League Baseball's July 31 trade deadline is in the rearview mirror. That means no more trades, right?
False. Clubs are still able to trade in the following month, but it becomes a bit trickier before the Aug. 31 waiver trade deadline. The process is a bit complicated, but it starts when teams place players on waivers. Most teams will put a good majority...

The Pirates are looking at Justin Morneau, according to Jon Heyman.
Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau could be on the move, and the Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles are two interested teams according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman.

Justin Morneau's been a name that's been at least peripherally associated with the Pirates for most of this trade deadline season. Jon Heyman says the Pirates and Orioles are both interested in the former MVP. John Perrotto says the Bucs have "next-to-zero" interest in Morneau. So they definitely either are or aren't interested.
