Manny Ramirez broke out of a 10-game slump, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to help pace the offense in an outstanding performance against Milwaukee Brewers’ ace Yovani Gallardo and a 17-4 win for the Boys in Blue.
The 17 runs scored were the highest total by the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium since 1979.
The Los Angeles Dodgers (66-41) came out of the gates aggressively and used three separate big innings to pound the visiting Brewers (53-54) as they scored four runs in the first inning and piled up 17 before the night was over.
Casey Blake doubled home two runs, Matt Kemp singled home another, and Russell Martin capped the inning with an RBI double of his own to tag Gallardo for five hits and four runs and stake claim to a 4-0 lead for Hiroki Kuroda.
Kuroda went six innings and allowed three runs on nine hits. He struck out seven and walked only one batter for an outing good enough to earn his first win since July 3.
