Don’t mess with a $147 million pitcher. There will be retaliation. Before Diamondbacks starting pitcher Ian Kennedy hit counterpart Dodgers starter Zack Greinke, three other batters had been hit in Tuesday night’s contest between Arizona and Los Angeles. When Kennedy threw one up and in that plunked Greinke high on the shoulder, well, that was all it took. Arizona’s Cody Ross was the first batter hit, and the Diamondbacks responded by plunking Dodgers Cuban phenom Yasiel Puig. Then, Greinke drilled Miguel Montero in the top of the seventh. Now here’s where things get a little weird. Although he was at 98 pitches through seven innings, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly sent Greinke out to lead off the bottom of the frame, and the $147 million man was promptly hit in retaliation for Montero. It’s one of baseball’s unwritten laws that you never intentionally hit an opposing pitcher, and that’s undoubtedly what sparked the brawl that followed. It feels like it’s been a while since there’s b...

The team sold approximately 3,000 units of Puig-related merchandise...

Los Angeles Dodgers newest star sees stars during an ugly night

Suspensions, fines on hold after LAD-ARI brawl

LOS ANGELES Major League Baseball held off issuing the expected fines and suspensions following Tuesday nights Dodgers-Arizona Diamondbacks melee, but its doubtful that any sort of discipline is going to quiet the bad feelings. Let’s Watch The Dodgers And Diamondbacks Brawl Set To ‘Street Fighting Man’

As I wrote the other day, all the Los Angeles Dodgers apparently needed to break out of their awful funk was the excitement of a flashy, young player like Yasiel Puig. The Brawl at Chavez Ravine was stupid for multiple reasons, but hey, at least it was GIFtastic

Well, that escalated quickly. It all started when Yasiel Puig got hit in the face by a 92 mph Ian Kennedy fastball. Zack Greinke then followed that up the next inning by hitting Miguel Montero in the back. Now, personally, if I was Zack Greinke, I wouldn’t have hit Miguel Montero. I don’t really believe Ian Kennedy hit Yasiel Puig intentionally, and I don’t really believe...
