Ken Rosenthal is tweeting this evening that the Dodgers and Astros are deep in talks regarding Carlos Lee. Buster Olney originally tweeted that the Dodgers were discussing a deal involving Jed Lowrie. The deal would've sent Dodgers top prospect Zach Lee and Garrett Gould for Lowrie. Ridiculous, not even Ned Colletti could pull off a trade that bad, right? Okay, maybe. It really makes no sense, a former first round pick, and the Dodgers current number one overall prospect for Lowrie and Carlos Lee? Seems a bit from reality, no? Olney followed that up with another tweet, saying the Dodgers originally asked about Lowrie, but he's no longer part of the discussions.

Rosenthal has also refuted that story, he's saying the Dodgers are specifically talking about Carlos Lee, not Lowrie. Mutliple reports are saying that the chances of a trade going down are about 50-50, though a large portion of that is because of Lee's no-trade clause. Lee would need to approve a trade, as the Dodgers are part of the 14 teams Lee can block a trade to.

Depending how this all shakes out, this could be a great deal for the Dodgers, who are willing to take on more salary rather than include higher quality prospects. So the match-up makes sense, Lee is obviously an upgrade over Loney, who appears to not be involved in talks. For now it appears Zach Lee is off the table, but Garrett Gould is still very much in play. I'm a little concerned about giving up Gould and picking up a huge chunk of salary, but I faith Kasten will come through. It's also worth nothing that Gould was scratched from his scheduled start Friday, perhaps indicating a deal could be close.
