On an evening when the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that their ace right-hander Chad Billingsley will miss his start Wednesday with a strained hamstring, opening day starter Hiroki Kuroda reminded the San Francisco Giants that the Boys in Blue have more than just one top of the line pitcher in the rotation. Kuroda worked 6.1 brilliant innings for the Dodgers (68-45), who broke a three-game skid in front of a hostile Bay Area crowd. He limited the Giants (61-51) to just one run on six hits as Los Angeles won the first contest between the long-time rivals since May 10 by a score of 4-2. Those in attendance jeered Manny Ramirez long and hard when he came to the plate and also broke out in “Beat L.A.” chants throughout the night, especially in the ninth, in attempt to rally the home town nine. The lone Giants run off Kuroda came on a second inning solo home run from Travis Ishikawa. The only other time the home team reached second base against Kuroda was in the first inning...
