Dodgers Give Brian Giles Invite

Brian Giles big league career might be over. But don’t tell that to the 39-year-old outfielder. Despite struggling last season, he’s inked a deal to join the Los Angeles Dodgers in spring training. His contract can be worth as much as $755,000 next season. Giles hit only .191 for the San Diego Padres last season to go along with two homers, 23 RBIs and 18 runs in 225 at-bats. After hitting .306 in 2008, his seventh year in San Diego obviously didn’t go as planned. If he makes the team, the Dodgers will likely use Giles as their main left-handed pinch hitter.
