New ownership and the anticipated windfall of a new TV deal that could net $6 billion over the next 25 years have made the Los Angeles Dodgers the new financial heavyweight in baseball this winter. However, aside from a $31 million deal with closer Brandon League, the Dodgers have yet to really flex their financial muscle this offseason. That hasn't stopped speculation that seems to include them as a potential landing spot for an assortment of free agents -- or any expensive player who might change teams. "We're in on so many players we may need two or three teams," Colletti joked during the winter meetings in Nashville. "We've gone from convincing players to come here to being the ones everyone is trying to convince. "We were an afterthought on so many fronts for a few years. Now, anybody that needs us to be involved has us being involved -- whether we're involved or not." The Dodgers have been deeply involved in trying to add one or two pitchers to their rotation, particularly targeting a starter who would slot in the upper part of the rotation behind Clayton Kershaw. Free agent right-hander Zack Greinke would fill that bill, and the Dodgers have been in discussions with his agent. But Colletti left the winter meetings with no resolution to those talks and no certainty that he would be able to outmaneuver the Texas Rangers for Greinke's services. "Too many factors are involved to project a result or begin to project a result," Colletti said.
