When the July 31st trade deadline comes and goes, it’s very possible that the only significant addition the Dodgers will have made will be the acquisition of Ricky Nolasco from the Florida Marlins back on July 6th.
The hottest team in baseball (26-6 since June 21st, 9-1 since the All Star Break) is in a unique position where they might be able to afford to stand pat, even if the division rival Diamondbacks make an acquisition such as veteran right-hander Jake Peavy to their starting rotation.
Part of the reason for this is that significant targets the Dodgers may have wanted to acquire have moved on. Francisco Rodriguez went from the Milwaukee Brewers to the Baltimore Orioles, and Jesse Crain went from the Chicago White Sox to the Tampa Bay Rays. Both the Orioles and the Rays are in the hunt for a playoff spot and seem unlikely to move either of those pitchers to another team for minor league prospects, and the Dodgers are certainly not looking to give up Major League talent for t...

LOS ANGELES In a game where the Dodgers played for 10 and scoreless innings and set a new franchise record for strikeouts, there's only one player that could possibly come through with the game-winning theatrics: Yasiel Puig.
Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium, with one out and the game tied up 0-0 in the bottom of the 11th, Puig came up to bat against the Reds' Curtis...
Yasiel Puig came to the MLB with high expectations from everyone, and he has definitely lived up to the hype. The Cuban baseball star was destined to be a star in the MLB. Yesterday in an extra innings game against the Reds, Puig showed once again why he’s nothing to mess with when he comes up to bat Yahoo Sports reports.
The game was tied 0-0, with Reds pitchers being able to...

THE BEARD IS BACK!
The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly have signed former Giants closer Brian Wilson, who hasn't thrown a big league pitch since April 12, 2012.
Yasiel Puig homered with two outs in the 11th inning to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.
Cincinnati pitchers set a franchise record with 20 strikeouts. Puig, Adrian Gonzalez, Hanley Ramirez and Tim Federowicz each fanned three times as the Dodgers established their highest single-game total for strikeouts since the franchise moved from...
The Los Angeles Dodgers reached an agreement with reliver Brian Wilson. Wilson is a three-time All-Star who led the National League with 48 saves in 2010.
The Dodgers have been seeking bullpen help, specifically an eighth-inning man who can work as a bridge to closer Kenley Jansen. Since becoming the closer on June 11, Jansen is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA and has saved 12 of his 14 opportunities...
Los Angeles Dodgers' outfielder Carl Crawford, missed his second straight game against the Cincinnati Reds due to feeling ill.
As reported by Austin Laymance of MLB.com,
"Crawford was sent to the emergency room Saturday as a precaution. He was
sick on Friday, though he started against the Reds and had three hits.
But he wasn't feeling better Sunday."...
While a couple of trades were executed for seemingly reasonable prices yesterday, the asking price on deals has generally seemed higher than in past years. With that in mind, the Dodgers took a step to try and improve their club without making Casey Blake for Carlos Santana Part Duex by signing free-agent reliever Brian Wilson. It’s a no-risk deal on both sides, and if it works...
According to Bob Nightengale, the Dodgers have emerged as the front runners to sign free agent Brian Wilson. The feedback from Dodger fans across the internet have this potential signing landing with mixed reviews. Rightfully so. Dodger fans have despised Brian Wilson for years, suddenly he is going to don the Dodger blue? His talent is undeniable, his track record speaks for itself...
Mark Ellis has been on nearly as big of a roll as the Los Angeles Dodgers since the All-Star break.
The second baseman has hit safely in all 11 of his team's games, batting .415 with a homer and eight RBIs since the second half began July 19.
Ellis delivered the winning single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Dodgers a 3-2 victory over the New York...

”Each player does what he can when he gets to the plate. Some people jump, some people slide, some people run,” Puig said through a translator. ”I have a previous teammate in Cuba that jumped and hurt his ankle. So I decided to slide.”
